Steve Hughes

Steve Hughes is an Associate Legal Analyst for 50 South Capital. He is responsible for supporting the group’s legal functions as well as product management functions across both the Private Equity and Hedge Fund teams.

Prior to joining 50 South Capital, Steve was an associate with Markou Law PC, a law firm in Kalamazoo Michigan. He played a key role in developing the firm’s estate planning database and practice, as well as helping clients negotiate complex legal issues in the areas of domestic relations, estate planning, and real property. Steve is also a proud Army veteran who honorably served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While there his team provided personal security for Iraqi politicians and foreign dignitaries in support of Iraq’s first multi-party elections after the coalition invasion.

Steve received a B.A. in Political Science concentrating on public law with a minor in leadership development from Western Michigan University, graduating cum laude. Additionally, he earned a Juris Doctor from WMU Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Outside of work Steve enjoys the outdoors, golfing, and traveling with his wife and family. He is also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
