James Riney

James Riney is an experienced venture capitalist and entrepreneur with a diverse background in finance and technology. Currently serving as a Board Member at Kaminashi Inc. and a Founding Partner & CEO at Coral Capital, James has played a pivotal role in various startups and investment firms. As the Head of 500 Startups Japan since October 2015, James has contributed significantly to the startup ecosystem. Previous roles include serving as a Board Member at SmartHR, Inc., a Principal at DeNA, and Co-Founder & CEO at ResuPress, now known as Coincheck, Inc. Early in the career, James worked as an Analyst at J.P. Morgan. James holds a degree from Penn State University and attended The American School in Japan.
