Ansgar Koene is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in AI ethics and regulatory leadership. Currently serving as the Global AI Ethics and Regulatory Leader at EY since June 2019, Koene focuses on AI policy development within the AI Lab. In addition, Koene holds trustee and commissioner roles with 5Rights and the Digital Futures Commission, respectively, advocating for children's rights in the digital realm. As an expert advising the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Advisory Body on AI, Koene engages in critical dialogues on AI risks. Koene is also a Steering Committee Member at the International Observatory on Information Democracy and serves on the AI Ethics Board at Hayden AI. Other contributions include positions at AfroLeadership, ACT-IAC, CEN-CENELEC, and the OECD Network of Experts on AI. Koene's academic background includes a PhD in Physics/Computational-Behavioural Neuroscience from Utrecht University and an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
