Jiya Benni

Jiya Benni is a seasoned urban planner and project manager with extensive experience in community engagement and urban design. Currently serving as a Senior Project Manager at 8 80 Cities since April 2021, Jiya previously worked as a Community Engagement Facilitator and Researcher at TCAT - The Centre for Active Transportation, where substantial contributions included co-developing outreach strategies for the City of Toronto's Vision Zero project and facilitating workshops using the Complete Streets Game. Previous roles also encompass urban design research at Waterstudio.NL, where Jiya led initiatives aimed at enhancing low-income waterfront communities, and experience in urban planning and architectural roles in various firms. Jiya holds a Master's degree in Urbanism from Delft University of Technology and a Bachelor of Architecture from the College of Engineering Trivandrum.
