Joseph Harman

Joseph Harman, PhD, is a seasoned scientist specializing in computational protein engineering and machine learning, currently serving as a Senior Scientist at A-Alpha Bio since April 2024. Prior to this role, Joseph held senior and scientist positions at Monod Bio from November 2022 to April 2024, and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Protein Design, University of Washington from August 2020 to October 2022, where research focused on applying protein design to medical and synthetic biology challenges. Joseph earned a PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Oregon, where studies concentrated on evolutionary biochemistry in the Harms Lab, and possesses a diverse background that includes internships and volunteer work in various scientific and clinical settings, as well as experience as a whitewater raft guide.
