Maria Angel

Maria Angel has a diverse work experience in various compliance and risk management roles. Maria started their career at Grupo Bancolombia as a Lawyer, where they focused on regulatory compliance in the personal banking sector. After that, they worked at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, as a Research Assistant. Maria then joined SURA Colombia as an Operational Risks - Compliance Manager, where they managed a team and oversaw compliance, fraud, and anti-money laundering functions in Latin America. Maria also served as a Corporate Governance Analyst, creating and developing the company's corporate governance system. Currently, Maria is working at AM Best, where they have progressed from Compliance Manager to Senior Compliance Manager to their current role as Associate Director of Compliance.

Maria Angel earned a Bachelor's degree in Law from Universidad EAFIT, which they completed between 2007 and 2011. Maria further pursued their education by obtaining a Master of Laws (LLM) with a specialization in Commercial Law from BPP University during 2014 and 2015. In addition, Maria Angel has acquired additional certifications, including a Certificate in Global Financial Compliance from The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (The CISI) in March 2021. Maria also has a Foundation in Insurance Test (FIT) certification from the Chartered Insurance Institute, although the specific date of completion is not provided.
