William (Bill) Hughes Jr. oversees caregiver board payments, accounts payable and fiscal department reporting.
Hughes knows firsthand the value of what A Second Chance, Inc., brings to kinship families. Prior to his coming to ASCI, he was a kinship caregiver of three nieces and nephews. They are now permanent members of his family, rounding out a family of seven children.
Prior to joining ASCI in 2015, he was director of food service for a large child care chain for 12 years. Hughes was responsible for coordinating the CACFP food program: ordering, menu planning and state and USDA program audits, as well as internal auditing and program oversight. This program was responsible for feeding hot, nutritious meals to more than 5,000 children from low-income families every day. He implemented policies and procedures to strengthen the program from probationary status to 100% compliance.
Hughes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Robert Morris College. He is passionate about family and children, and this passion is what drew him to the agency. His ability to relate to caregivers through his own kinship experience is what drives him to believe in and contribute to the mission of A Second Chance, Inc.
