Maria A. Centeno-Vázquez has a strong background in academia and has held various positions in program direction and professorship. Maria A. is currently serving as the Program Director & Associate Professor at A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Health Sciences. Prior to this, they held similar roles at the ATSU College of Graduate Health Studies. Maria A. also worked as the Program Director & Associate Professor at Inter-American University of Puerto Rico-Metropolitan Campus for two years. Maria has extensive experience as an Associate Professor at Universidad del Turabo and School Of Health Sciences. Maria A. has also served as the Director of the Caribbean Neurocognitive Comprehensive Center for Treatment, Research, and Community Services. Their career in academia began as an Assistant Professor at the Medical Sciences Campus, UPR, where they worked for four years.
Maria A. Centeno-Vázquez obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders, General from the University of Cincinnati from 2007 to 2013. Before that, they completed their Master of Science (MS) in Speech-Language Pathology/Pathologist at the University of Puerto Rico from 1993 to 1995. Additionally, they hold various certifications, including the Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders from The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2014 and a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) also from ASHA in 2008.
