Noreal Armstrong

Noreal Armstrong, Ph.D., LCMHCS, NCC, LCDC, currently serves as the Chief Equity and Human Rights Officer for Buncombe County Government, a position held since March 2023. Prior to this role, Noreal was the Executive Director and CEO of A Therapist Like Me, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing counseling support to minority-identifying clients in Western North Carolina. Noreal's academic career includes serving as Department Chair and Assistant Professor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Montreat College from June 2016 to June 2021, as well as previous roles at Rejuvenating Counseling Services and Creekview Counseling, where expertise in counseling and program development was demonstrated. Noreal holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from The University of Texas at San Antonio, along with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University-Texarkana and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University.
