David Bird

David Bird has a diverse work experience in the technology industry spanning over several years. David is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer at Aalyria. Prior to that, they were a Principal Architect at Aviatrix. From 2013 to 2022, David worked at Google as a Staff Software Engineer, where they served as a Tech Lead/Manager for an edge platform infrastructure team. David was responsible for managing the team, data-plane performance and scaling, feature roadmap, and team planning. Before joining Google, they founded Coova Technologies in 2006 and served as the Founder and Principal. Coova Technologies is a leading provider of wireless and Wi-Fi Hotspot solutions. From 2012 to 2013, David worked as a Snr. MTS at PowerCloud Systems, where they were involved in embedded software development and firmware architecture. David also co-founded MailEncrypt, Inc. in 2000 and served as the Co-founder and CTO. Other notable roles held by David include being a CTO at PicoPoint, a Software Engineer at Sony Pictures Imageworks, and a Senior Software Engineer at Verio, Inc. In their previous roles, David has worked on projects such as developing cloud-managed secure networking technologies, managing software architecture and development, and implementing e-commerce and functional websites. David has a strong background in areas such as SDN, LTE, WiFi, networking, routing, and VPNs. Furthermore, David has experience with Java, RADIUS solutions, and web development.

David Bird attended UCLA from 1991 to 1995, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics.
