Brett Heiken

VP & Associate General Counsel, Privacy & Research at AARP

Brett Heiken has extensive work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Currently, they serve as the VP & Associate General Counsel for Privacy & Research at AARP. Prior to this, they held various positions at Pharmavite, including Director, Legal, where they were a member of the Executive Team for Pharmavite's subsidiary and served as Corporate Secretary for FoodState's Board of Directors. In addition, they worked as a Senior Corporate Counsel and Corporate Counsel at Pharmavite. Before joining Pharmavite, Brett worked as an Associate at O'Melveny & Myers LLP, where they specialized in project development and real estate transactions. Brett also gained valuable experience as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Judge John L. Segal at the Los Angeles Superior Court. Overall, Brett has a strong background in legal and corporate counsel roles, with expertise in privacy and research, information technology, data privacy, information security, trade and regulatory compliance, and project development.

Brett Heiken has a J.D. degree from USC Gould School of Law, which they obtained from 2004 to 2007. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies and obtained a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley between 1998 and 2002. In addition to their formal education, Brett Heiken has obtained additional certifications. Brett acquired the California Bar License from the State Bar of California in December 2007 and the Connecticut Authorized House Counsel certification from the Connecticut Judicial Branch in July 2016.
