Brittne Kakulla, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. Brittne has worked for various organizations in roles related to research, consumer insights, and technology.
Starting in 2002, they served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Howard University National Human Genome Center. Brittne then worked as a Research Assistant at Lockheed Martin from December 2003 to August 2004.
In August 2004, Brittne joined AARP and began their long career with the organization. Brittne held multiple roles during their time there, including Research Specialist, Research Advisor, State Research Director (Interim), Senior Research Advisor- Consumer Insights, and Senior Consumer Insights Manager- Technology. In these positions, they conducted various research projects and developed insights relevant to older adults and AgeTech. Brittne also translated complex research findings into actionable formats and authored or co-authored over 500 reports.
In addition to their work at AARP, Brittne also worked as an Advisor for Age + Accessibility Tech at Cornell University Product Studio from August 2020 to September 2022. In this role, they advised and mentored graduate students in developing tech products or services related to age and accessibility.
Most recently, Brittne joined Mentor Me Collective in 2022 as a UX Research Fellow. Here, they manage a team of researchers and designers, leading end-to-end engagement in UX research projects for a mobile app MVP.

Brittne Kakulla, Ph.D. holds a Ph.D. degree in Social Psychology from Howard University. In addition to their doctoral degree, they have obtained several certifications. These include the American Marketing Association Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) from the American Marketing Association, obtained in October 2019. Brittne also holds a Certificate in Data Science from Georgetown University, obtained in June 2016. Furthermore, they completed a program in the High Dimension Data Visualization Research Lab at District Data Labs in 2016.
