Karen L. Mercer

Karen L. Mercer serves as Senior Vice President and Treasurer at AARP since November 2014. A seasoned financial leader, Mercer previously held the position of Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer at Cornell College from September 2008 to August 2013. Additional experience includes roles as a Consultant and Interim CFO at Citizens Bank & Trust from September 2006 to October 2007, and Vice President of Business & Administrative Services at Graceland University from November 2003 to June 2006. Mercer also served as Vice President and Treasurer at Imperial Sugar Company from September 1993 to February 2003, and held the position of Vice President in Commercial Lending at Texas Commerce National Bank from June 1985 to September 1993. Educational qualifications include an MBA in Business Administration from Texas Christian University and completion of the Emerging CFO: Strategic Financial Leadership Program at Stanford University.
