Rebecca Benner

Rebecca Benner has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Rebecca began their career as a Human Resource Generalist and Safety Specialist at Filterite from 1983 to 1988, where they were responsible for various HR functions including job descriptions, recruitment, benefits administration, and EEOC compliance. Additionally, they oversaw safety protocols and training for a three-location manufacturing company.

Following this, Benner worked as a Safety Manager at Gould Inc. from 1988 to 1989, where they ensured compliance with health and safety regulations and trained employees on safety practices.

Rebecca then served as a Human Resource Generalist and Safety Specialist at Goodwill of the Chesapeake from 1995 to 1997, where they implemented HR programs and policies, handled benefits administration, and managed safety programs. Rebecca also provided HR support to department directors and represented the organization in unemployment and worker's compensation hearings.

From 2005 to 2009, Benner worked as a Financial Assistant at Bensen Homes Inc., where they handled accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax reporting for a local building company. Rebecca also generated financial reports and worked closely with a CPA.

Benner joined Anne Arundel Community College in 2010 as an Adjunct Instructor in Adult Basic Education. Rebecca taught courses in adult basic education until their departure in 2010.

In 2010, they also began working at Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corp., initially as a Career Navigation Specialist serving justice-involved individuals until 2019. Rebecca then transitioned to the position of Supervisor for Summer Youth Works/Career X until 2019. Most recently, they worked as the Manager of Community Services at the same organization from October 2019.

Throughout their career, Benner has demonstrated their expertise in HR management, safety compliance, instructional roles, and financial administration.

Rebecca Benner has a diverse education history. Rebecca earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education/Science from West Virginia University, which they completed between 1977 and 1982. Rebecca continued their education at the same university and obtained a Master of Science degree in Safety Management from 1982 to 1983. Rebecca further expanded their knowledge by pursuing a Master of Administrative Science (MAS) degree in Public Administration at The Johns Hopkins University, where they studied from 1985 to 1988.

In addition to their formal education, Rebecca has also obtained various certifications throughout their career. Rebecca became a Certified Workforce Development Professional through the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals in July 2016. In July 2015, they obtained the certification of a Certified Professional Resume Writer from the Professional Association of Resume Writers. Rebecca also holds a certification as a Global Career Development Facilitator from the Center for Credentialing and Education Inc., obtained in September 2014. Rebecca further expanded their expertise by becoming an Offender Workforce Development Specialist Instructor through the National Institute of Correction in August 2014 and an Offender Workforce Development Specialist through the National Institutes of Corrections in December 2013. Recently, Rebecca obtained a certification in Mental Health First Aid from the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare in February 2022. Lastly, they became a Workplace Excellence Master Trainer through the Worknet Soluntions and AAWDC Joint Partnership in June 2021 and completed the OSHA 10 / 30 Trainer Course provided by the Mid Atlantic OTI Education Center - USA Department of Labor in January 2019.
