Ben Tamez

Manufacturing AREA Manager - Technical at Abaco Systems

Ben Tamez has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Ben began their career at Comptronix Corporation in 1994 as an Associate Functional/In Circuit/Environmental Test Engineer, where they were responsible for developing and designing functional test programs and fixtures for electronic circuit boards. Ben also supported In-circuit test programs for GenRad 227X and developed test engineering procedures for ISO 9002. In 1996, they transitioned to Sanmina-SCI Corporation (Medical Division) as a Functional/In-circuit/Environmental Test Engineer, providing engineering support for multiple customers and developing test programs for the Sprint Flying Probe Tester.

From 2007 to 2008, Ben worked at Sanmina as a Functional/In-circuit Test Engineer (Global Technical Support), where they developed functional tests fixtures, generated schematics and diagrams for test sets, and provided ICT support for Sanmina-SCI Medical Division.

In 2008, Ben joined DRS Technologies, Inc. as a Test Engineer, performing Design For Testability (DFT) on new electronic circuit board designs and participating in the New Product Introduction (NPI) team. Ben also developed and supported In-circuit test programs for Teradyne 18XX.

Ben then transitioned to Gemstone Foods, LLC in 2014 as a Human Resources Manager Assistant/Bilingual Recruiter/Process Improvement/Safety Consultant. Ben'sresponsibilities included recruiting hourly personnel, conducting interviews, and presenting orientations in English and Spanish. Ben also completed I-9 forms, E-verify, and Alabama New Hires reporting.

In 2015, Ben joined GE Appliances as a Senior Inspector Analyst, where they maintained PQA test loop equipment, leak detection equipment, and quality information equipment. Ben was also responsible for maintaining the computer data acquisition system.

Most recently, Ben worked at Abaco Systems, Inc. since 2016. Ben started as a Manufacturing Test Engineer, working with the Test Engineering group to ensure tests and equipment were Manufacturing Test ready. Ben also addressed issues that required engineering modifications. Ben later transitioned to the role of MANUFACTURING AREA MANAGER - TECHNICAL, where they provided direct leadership at the Huntsville Single Board Computer test, debug, and manufacturing functions. Ben strategically planned staffing needs and was responsible for meeting key manufacturing metrics.

Throughout their career, Ben has demonstrated proficiency in test engineering, manufacturing, and leadership roles, as well as bilingual communication skills.

Ben Tamez attended Jacksonville State University from 1986 to 1990, where they specialized in Occupational Technology with a focus on Electronics. During the same period, they also attended Snead Community College, though no specific degree or field of study is mentioned. Prior to that, from 1984 to 1986, Ben Tamez studied at Alabama Technical College, earning an Associate Degree in Industrial Electronics. Ben then continued their education at Alabama Technical College from 1986 to 1987, obtaining an Associate Degree in Computer Electronics.
