Joy Monahan

Joy Monahan is an accomplished legal professional currently serving as the Legal & OEC EEDI Programs Lead at AbbVie since June 2020, and as a member of the LSU National Diversity Advisory Board since April 2019. Monahan is a 2023 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. Previous roles include General Counsel and Director of Special Projects at World Business Chicago, where initiatives included leading Metro Chicago Exports and fostering economic growth through strategic partnerships. Work experience also encompasses a tenure as Relationship and Restructuring Attorney at Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP and positions at Kirkland & Ellis, Heller Draper Hayden Patrick & Horn LLC, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana, and the State of Louisiana's Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal. Monahan holds a JD from LSU Law, an MPP from Georgetown University, and a BA in Government from Georgetown University, complemented by education at The London School of Economics and Political Science.
