Sameera Senaweera

Sameera Senaweera is a Senior Scientist at AbbVie since May 2021, with a solid background in medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis. Prior to this role, Sameera served as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Center for Drug Design at the University of Minnesota, focusing on the development of small molecule inhibitors targeting viral and cellular DNA repair pathways. Previous experience includes a Postdoctoral Researcher position at the University of Kansas, where Sameera worked on metal-mediated and photocatalytic decarboxylative coupling reactions, and as a Graduate Research Assistant at Oklahoma State University, where projects included developing synthetic methodologies for fluorinated compounds and managing drug discovery and herbicide development projects. Sameera holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.
