Tom Barton

Tom Barton is a Principal Research Scientist at AbbVie, specializing in GMP drug substance manufacturing, tech transfers of active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates, and plant support for validation and commercial manufacturing. Previous experience includes roles as a Senior Research Chemist at Stepan Company and a Process Chemist at Corteva Agriscience, where Tom focused on early-stage route scoping and flow chemistry validation. Additional experience includes positions at Dow AgroSciences as an Associate Scientist and Senior Chemist, and a Post-Doctoral Associate role at MIT, where Tom developed flow chemistry protocols for continuous manufacturing applications. Tom holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin and a BSChem in Chemistry from the University of Michigan.
