Yiyun Yu

Principal Research Scientist I at AbbVie

Yiyun Yu is an accomplished Principal Research Scientist I at AbbVie since July 2015, with a focus on designing, synthesizing, and optimizing small molecules for oncologic targets. Yiyun has been recognized with the Oncology Huddle Awards in 2022 and has served on the Committee of Asian Leadership Networks since 2019, in addition to recruiting at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Prior to AbbVie, Yiyun held a Senior Scientist I role where collaboration with structural biologists facilitated drug discovery for oncology. Before that, Yiyun worked at The Scripps Research Institute, contributing to significant advancements in anticancer research. Yiyun’s early research experience includes developing innovative protocols in palladium catalysis as a Graduate Researcher and teaching responsibilities as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Minnesota, complemented by foundational research at the University of Science and Technology of China. Yiyun holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Science and Technology of China.
