John Cavazos has extensive work experience in the media industry, with their most recent position being Assistant News Director/Nightside Executive Producer at ABC 7 WWSB-TV since April 2023. Prior to that, they served as Assistant News Director at KRGV-TV from June 2019 to June 2022. John also worked as a Producer at WHDH-TV, 7News from March 2016 to May 2019 and as an Executive Producer at News4Jax, WJXT-TV, Jacksonville, FL from February 2013 to January 2015. Additionally, Cavazos held the position of Executive Producer at Fox 13, Good Day Tampa Bay from September 2006 to September 2012, at ABC Action News WFTS Tampa, FL from March 2005 to September 2006, at WTTA-TV (WB38 News at Ten) from May 2003 to March 2005, and at Bay News 9 from April 2000 to January 2003. John started their career as a Producer at New England Cable News (NECN) from February 1999 to April 2000, and served as the News Director at WVNY-TV from August 1993 to February 1999. Throughout their career, Cavazos has demonstrated expertise in various roles including overseeing news departments, producing and directing newscasts, managing staff, and coordinating live coverage of breaking news events.
John Cavazos attended the State University of New York at Plattsburgh from 1980 to 1984. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies.
