Yongwon Kwon

Senior Scientist And Mol Team Lead at Abcam

Yongwon Kwon has a comprehensive work experience in the field of scientific research. Yongwon started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at UCSF Medical Center in 2005, where they conducted research on the role of specific oncogenes in the development of normal and neoplastic tissues. Yongwon also identified Rab7 as a candidate mitochondrial effector of apoptosis.

In 2010, Yongwon joined Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a Project Scientist. Here, they focused on identifying and validating cancer biomarkers and investigating the role of the Fbxw7 tumor suppressor in radiation-induced tumor development. Yongwon developed various assays to study these biomarkers and their functional interactions in breast cancer cells.

In 2015, Yongwon moved to Next Interactions as a Senior Scientist, where they continued to conduct research in the field of cancer biology until 2018. Yongwon then joined DiaCarta, Inc. as a Senior Scientist, further expanding their expertise in molecular biology.

Yongwon's most recent work experience is at Applied StemCell, where they served as a Scientist and Molecular Team Lead from 2019 to 2020. Currently, they are working at Abcam as a Senior Scientist and Molecular Team Lead, utilizing their extensive knowledge and skills in the field.

Yongwon Kwon attended Kyoto University from 1999 to 2003, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Pathology/Molecular Biology.
