Ahmed Ghonem

Ahmed Ghonem is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in various roles within leading banking and financial institutions. Currently serving as the Chief Legal Officer at Abdul Latif Jameel since October 2017, Ghonem has previously held significant positions, including Senior Legal Counsel at SABB, where expertise benefited clients through the HSBC Group's extensive network. Additional experience includes serving as Statutory Legal Counsel and Board Counsel at HSBC Bank Oman, as well as similar roles at Oman International Bank. Ghonem's career began as a lawyer in a legal firm, progressing through senior legal positions in multiple banks, such as Legal Affairs Manager at Al Baraka Bank Egypt and Senior Legal Counsel at Industrial Development and Workers Bank of Egypt. Ghonem holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alexandria, along with a Sharia Law Diploma from the same institution.
