Stephen Coussens

Stephen Coussens is a data scientist and economist currently serving as a Senior Data Scientist at Abett, where they focus on health economics, causal inference, and machine learning to extract insights from employee health and benefits data. They previously held the position of Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Management at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, where their research has been published in esteemed journals and media outlets. Their experience includes a role as a Doctoral Fellow in the City of Boston's Citywide Analytics Team and as a Research Associate at the University of Chicago Crime Lab, where they analyzed programs aimed at improving outcomes for at-risk youth. Stephen earned a PhD in Health Economics from Harvard University and holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago, as well as a BA in Business-Economics and History from UCLA.
