Rusty Kruzelock

VP for Research at Abilene Christian University

Rusty Kruzelock is the current Vice President for Research at Abilene Christian University. Prior to their current position, Rusty served as the Chief Executive Officer of NeutraEnergy from November 2019 to September 2020. NeutraEnergy is a social enterprise that solves social and environmental problems through market-driven innovation.

Before their time at NeutraEnergy, Rusty was the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the West Virginia Regional Technology Park from November 2013 to November 2019. The Tech Park is a 258-acre, multi-tenant research campus committed to commercial innovation, technological advancement and education. With 951,000 square feet of office, laboratory, and chemical pilot plant facilities, the WVRTP is a rapidly growing center focusing on Chemistry, Biotechnology, Advanced Materials, Advanced Manufacturing, and Data Sciences. From 2014-2018, the Tech Park grew over 92% making it one of the fastest growing Research Parks in the US during that time.

Rusty's experience also includes serving as President of Cenovance, LLC from April 2007 to October 2013 and as Chief Scientific Officer of Bium, Inc from July 2005 to March 2013. Prior to those positions, Rusty was the Pharmacogenomics Head at CTRC Institute for Drug Development from June 2004 to April 2007.

Rusty Kruzelock has a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Rusty also has a M.S. in Genetics from Penn State University and a B.S. in Biology from Penn State University.

Rusty Kruzelock reports to Phil Schubert, President. They work with Suzie Macaluso - Chair Elect, Faculty Senate, Natalie Ledford - Chief Digital Officer, and Slade Sullivan - General Counsel & VP.
