Abilities in Motion
Abilities in Motion has been helping individuals with disabilities achieve their life’s goals for over 30 years. AIM works to match services and support with each person’s unique needs, lifting quality of life and engagement with the community to new levels. We empower people with disabilities to enjoy self-directed, personally meaningful lives through consumer-controlled services and advocacy. AIM began operating as a non-profit, nonsectarian Center for Independent Living in 1989. We changed our name to Abilities in Motion in 1997 to reflect the expansion of our outreach efforts, additional services, and programs. Since that time, AIM has grown each year – expanding into new regions, offering new programs, and increasing numbers of people with disabilities served. AIM’s staff serves over 3,700 people with disabilities in over 30 counties throughout PA. The goal of AIM’s programming is to increase awareness, collaboration, and opportunity among people with disabilities. AIM’s services provide people with skills, knowledge, and resources that empower them to eliminate damaging and stereotypical notions of disability so that they are able to strive toward realizing their full human potential.
