We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Components and Test to join our dynamic team at ABL. This position will oversee the production and testing of critical components such as valves, turbopumps, sub-assemblies, and related equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace manufacturing, with a proven track record in improving first-pass yield, operational efficiencies, and optimizing shop floor layouts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage a team responsible for the production and testing of aerospace components, ensuring adherence to quality standards and delivery schedules
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance first-pass yield, reduce cycle times, and optimize resource utilization
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement design for manufacturability (DFM) principles and ensure smooth transition from design to production
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to stakeholders, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making throughout product lifecycle
  • Develop and implement strategies to streamline shop floor operations, including layout improvements, workflow optimization, enhanced tooling, and implementation of lean manufacturing principles
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration programs to ensure reliability and accuracy of test results
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging data to propose innovative solutions for manufacturing challenges

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace components and testing methodologies
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques
  • Proven track record of improving manufacturing processes, first-pass yield, and operational efficiencies
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
