Athul Harris has a diverse range of experience in transportation engineering. Athul started their career as a Civil Engineering Intern at Upper Hutt City Council, where they gained an understanding of engineering in the real world. This experience solidified their passion for transportation engineering. Athul further developed their skills as a Civil Engineering Intern at Wellington City Council, working on various projects and gaining knowledge in different sectors.
Athul then became a Transportation Engineer at TDG, where they focused on producing transportation assessments for clients, providing insights into the traffic effects of their businesses or developments. Athul later joined Stantec as a Transportation Engineer, working on traffic planning and transportation engineering tasks such as transportation assessments, road safety audits, and cycling infrastructure projects.
In 2021, Athul joined Porirua City Council as a Traffic and Road Safety Engineer, and later became the Team Leader Traffic and Road Safety. In these roles, they managed the delivery of road safety programs and oversaw the workload of direct reports. Athul also presented to council and attended workshops and community meetings.
Currently, Athul holds the position of Senior Transportation Engineer at Abley, where they utilize their expertise in transportation engineering.
Athul Harris pursued their education in a systematic manner. Their educational journey began at St. Patrick's College Wellington from 2007 to 2011, during which they completed their high school education. Following this, they enrolled at The University of Auckland from 2012 to 2015, where they earned their Bachelor's Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
