Ildiko Gyarmati

Ildiko Gyarmati serves as a Senior Legal Counsel for Group Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions at Absa Group since October 2023, overseeing transactions for entities within the Absa Group across Africa and other jurisdictions. Prior to this role, Ildiko was a Senior Associate at Hogan Lovells and CMS South Africa, specializing in corporate, mergers, and acquisitions law, with a focus on public M&A and equity capital markets. Ildiko has extensive experience from a previous tenure as a Senior Associate at Norton Rose Fulbright, where responsibilities included providing corporate advice for M&A transactions across various sectors such as financial institutions and renewable energy. Early career experiences include positions as an Associate and Candidate Attorney at Norton Rose Fulbright, as well as a Trainee in the Tanzania office. Ildiko contributed to legal scholarship as an Editor for the Wits Inkundla law journal and gained teaching experience as a Tutor at the University of Witwatersrand Law School. Ildiko holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from the University of the Witwatersrand.
