Imraan Karrim (CA)SA has a diverse work experience. Imraan started their career as a SAICA (CA) SA graduate at Deloitte South Africa in 2010 and also worked as a SAICA (CA) SA experienced analyst in 2011. Imraan became a SAICA (CA) SA auditor in charge in 2012 and an accounting and advisory technical manager in 2013. In the same year, they joined Barclays Africa Group Limited as a Hyperion specialist technology consultant before becoming a Group and consolidation financial accountant in 2015. In 2017, they moved to Absa Group, where they worked as the Head of accounting control for Regional Operations (Africa) until 2019 and then as the Financial Controller of Regional Operations (Vice President) from 2019 onwards.

Imraan Karrim attended St John's College for primary education from 1992 to 1995, followed by King Edward VII School for primary and secondary education from 1996 to 2000. Imraan then attended Crawford International for secondary education from 2001 to 2003. In 2004, they took a gap year for international travel. From 2005 to 2007, Imraan studied at the University of Johannesburg and obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Accounting. In 2009, they received a Certificate of Theory in Accounting from the University of Johannesburg. Imraan further pursued their education at the SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants), where they completed the Initial Test of Competence (Board 1) in 2010 and the Assessment of Professional Competence (Board 2) in 2012. In 2013, Imraan obtained the CA(SA) certification from SAICA CA(SA).
