Phakama Makalima

Phakama Makalima is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in the financial services sector. Currently serving as Chief Information Officer and Head of Technology at Absa Group since June 2020, Phakama leads the design, deployment, and optimization of enterprise-wide technology solutions. Prior roles include IT Business Solutions Manager and IT Business Support Manager at Rand Mutual from August 2015 to June 2020, as well as positions at Regent Insurance, Discovery Health, FNB South Africa, Cell C, Standard Bank Group, and Nedbank. Phakama holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Nelson Mandela University, completed between 2013 and 2015.
