Matthew Blankschien

Matthew Blankschien is a seasoned professional in synthetic biology and cellular engineering, currently serving as Senior Scientist II at Absci since August 2021. Prior to this role, Matthew held the position of Senior Scientist in Cellular Engineering at ADM from May 2020 to August 2021 and worked at BASF from March 2014 to May 2020, where responsibilities included leading scientific teams and conducting laboratory experiments related to bio-based chemicals. Matthew's extensive experience also includes postdoctoral research at Rice University, focusing on microbial production of biofuels and biochemicals, as well as light-triggered biocatalysis. Matthew earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from Baylor College of Medicine and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
