Daren Smith

Daren Smith is a seasoned investment professional with extensive experience in asset management. Currently serving as the Chief Investment Officer for Equities at the Abu Dhabi Investment Council since August 2021, Daren has previously held significant roles at the University of Toronto Asset Management, including President and Chief Investment Officer from September 2016 to July 2021, where responsibilities encompassed overseeing all business aspects and leading investment manager selection and strategy development. Earlier in the career, Daren was a Partner and Director of Manager Research at Keel Capital from 2004 to 2008. Daren holds a Master of Arts in Economics from McMaster University, a Master of Science in Statistics from The University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from Western University.
