Barry Sugarman has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Barry is currently working as the VP of Learning Platforms at AccelerEd since December 2021. Prior to this, they held various roles at Walden University from 2019 to 2021, including Vice Provost, Dean of Learning Pathways & School of Lifelong Learning, and Senior Director of Co-curricular Strategy & Innovation. From 2015 to 2019, Barry served as the Vice President at Laureate International Universities, leading initiatives related to global faculty excellence and strategic planning and product development. Barry also held the position of Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Divine Mercy University from 2014 to 2015. Additionally, Barry has extensive experience at Laureate Education, Inc., where they served as Vice President of Program Design and Product Operations, Executive Director of Program Design & Product Quality, and Director of Program Design. Barry also worked at University of Sacramento, LexisNexis/Martindale-Hubbell, Thomson Reuters, SkyTel, and the National Academy of Sciences, holding various managerial and leadership roles.

Barry Sugarman's education history is as follows. Barry obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester, where they studied from 1981 to 1985. Barry pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing at Pace University - Lubin School of Business from 1986 to 1988. Then, from 1988 to 1990, they attended Teachers College, Columbia University, where they earned a Master of Education (Ed.M.) degree in Higher Education Administration. Lastly, they completed their Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Education at Columbia University from 1990 to 1995.
