P. Matthew Glavin

General Counsel at Access Community Health Network

Prior to joining ACCESS as its General Counsel, Matt worked with ACCESS for more than 20 years as outside counsel through his own practice, Glavin & Associates, Ltd., which he founded in 1996.

A seasoned lawyer with deep bench of experience in health care, Matt has provided ACCESS with a broad range of legal services to support ACCESS as it has navigated through critical periods of expansion and growth, and the evolution of care delivery and health law on both a state and federal level.

Matt is licensed by the Supreme Court of Illinois, the Supreme Court of the United States and various Federal district and circuit courts. He is a member of several sections of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys, the American Health Lawyers Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel.

Matt started his career as an associate attorney with Pretzel & Stouffer in its litigation department. From there, he practiced for more than 10 years with Ross & Hardies (now McGuire Woods), first as an associate attorney and then as a partner in its litigation and health law departments. From 2000 through 2009, Matt also served as a member of the adjunct faculty of the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, teaching legal writing and research.

Matt is originally from Rockford, IL and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, earning a B.S. in accounting with honors in 1982. He also passed the C.P.A. exam that same year. In 1985, he then graduated from the DePaul University College of Law receiving honors in legal writing and trial advocacy.
