Mark Berthiaume

Mark Berthiaume is currently an advisor at Accolite Digital, a PE-owned digital transformation services provider. Mark has also served on the board of Mindaro, a seed-stage InsurTech start-up, and OWIT Global, a Series A InsurTech start-up. In addition, they have been an advisor to myCOI, a Series A provider of digital certificates of insurance. Mark has also served on the board of Western New England University and ACORD, an insurance value chain R&D; industry association.

Previously, Mark was with The Hanover Insurance Group for 7 years, where they held positions as EVP & Chief Technology Innovation Officer and SVP & Chief Information & Administrative Officer. At The Hanover, they led IT, digital, innovation, and shared services teams, and managed a 800-person organization with 8 direct reports. Mark also worked closely with the company's C-level colleagues and Board, and made presentations to investors and analysts.

Under their leadership, The Hanover embarked on a 5-year enterprise transformation program that outperformed expense ratio, earnings per share, and return on equity goals. Mark also directed a $400+ million technology/process modernization that aligned systems with the company's enterprise value creation strategy. This included initiatives in cyber security, revenue growth, data & analytics, digital experiences, core systems, and infrastructure. As a result of these efforts, annual IT opex was reduced by 20%.

In response to the COVID pandemic, Mark collaborated with the company's CHRO on a work-from-home response plan that included the creation of persona-driven future-of-work scenarios for 4,600 employees. This led to the development of scalable virtual and hybrid models that gave managers the flexibility and agility they needed to continue operating effectively.

Mark is a champion of diversity, equity & inclusion, and has co-sponsored business resource groups for women, people of color, LGBTQIA employees, veterans, and young professionals. Mark has also built the most diverse organization in the company.
