John Collins has a diverse work experience in the field of medical imaging. John started their career at Siemens Corporate Research in 2000, where they designed and implemented rendering plugins for real-time 3D visualization imaging. John also worked on bone-removal segmentation.
In 2006, John joined Siemens Medical Solutions as a Senior Scientist. John led the testing effort and introduced new approaches that resulted in the fastest rate of discovering defects in a mature product. John also coauthored requirements for the overall system.
In 2007, John joined Philips Healthcare as a Software Architect. John worked on image reconstruction in nuclear medicine, specifically PET/CT, PET/MR, and SPECT/CT. John led a project that significantly improved the performance of the PET/CT list-mode reconstruction engine.
From 2012 to 2017, John served as a Systems Design Engineer at Philips Healthcare, where they provided technical leadership for the PET/MR program. John was responsible for system requirements, systems design, and overseeing development and integration.
Most recently, John has been working at Accuray since 2017 as a Senior Systems Engineer. Their role involves managing user and system requirements related to cybersecurity, image quality, risk, and international regulations. John is also a representative on IEC TC 62/SC62/WG 1.

John Collins earned their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science from the University of Guelph in 1984. Later on, they pursued their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computer Science from the same university, completing it in 1999.
