Technical Director, Commodity Management at ACDI/VOCA

Barry Elkin manages the monetization sales under ACDI/VOCA’s United States Department of Agriculture Food for Progress awards as a technical director of commodity management. Barry also supports cash transfer activities to vulnerable households for ACDI/VOCA’s Development Food Security Activity in Burkina Faso. From 2002 to 2009, Barry served as ACDI/VOCA’s deputy chief of party for the USAID Food for Peace Title II Development Activity Program in Rwanda. Prior to joining ACDI/VOCA in 2000, Barry assisted with the management of the Title II Development Food Security portfolio in West Africa as an institutional support contractor for the USAID Office of Food for Peace. One of the programs in the portfolio was ACDI/VOCA’s Development Food Security Activity in Cape Verde, which led Barry to discover their work in agriculture and cooperative development and, eventually, join ACDI/VOCA. He holds a BA in international studies from Whitworth College and is fluent in English and French.
