Victor Simmons

Victor Simmons has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple industries. Victor started their career at La Quinta Resort & Club in 1982, where they held various roles in convention services, sales, and front office management until 1994.

In 1996, they joined Marriott International as the Director of Human Resources and Senior Convention Services Manager. During their tenure, they achieved significant improvements in associate engagement and supervisor effectiveness while also reducing workers’ compensation case management costs.

Moving on, Simmons worked at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. as the Director of Human Resources from 2005 to 2011. Here, they successfully implemented a guest service culture transformation, incorporated Six Sigma best practices, and implemented an innovative marketing and recruitment strategy.

From 2011 to 2012, Simmons worked as a Consultant at the Family Health & Support Network, Inc., where they provided expertise in recruitment, volunteer/employee retention programs, and compliance. Victor also took the initiative to lead fundraising event management and facilitated youth development programs.

Simmons then joined Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in 2012, initially serving as the Area Director of Human Resources. Victor built a high-performing HR team and achieved exceptional employee retention metrics. In 2018, they transitioned to the role of Director of Diversity & Inclusion, where they played a pivotal role in reestablishing business affinity groups and managing a successful summer internship program.

Most recently, Simmons joined Ace Hotel / Atelier Ace in 2020 as the Vice President, HR, and Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Victor developed a DEI Board structure, launched a supplier diversity program, and implemented training courses focusing on managing blind spots and leading inclusive teams.

Victor Simmons earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona between 1986 and 1988.
