Chi-Chin Sun, MD, PHD was enrolled into the Department of Ophthalmology, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou, Taiwan as a resident in 1995 and completed a five-year training program including one year of fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery subspecialty. Thereafter, he was promoted to an attending physician of Ophthalmology at Keelung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in 2000. In addition to daily clinical work load, Dr. Sun enjoyed teaching and was in charge of the resident educational program in his Department. He planned the training course and involved in many training activities for residents and young physicians. As an assistant professor appointed to the school of medicine at Chang Gung University, Dr. Sun also taught medical students the essential examining skills in Ophthalmology. In July 2008, Dr. Sun was promoted to the director of the Department of Ophthalmology. He joined forces to plan the developmental scheme for his Department and now the development of the Department of Ophthalmology in Keelung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is booming and thriving. It is also worth mentioning that Dr. Sun, when he was in medical school, showed strong interest in medical research. Therefore, he was actively participated in various study programs including basic medical sciences and clinical research, the training of which further solidified the foundation for his future research work.
