John Marshall

Professor John Marshall, PhD, FRCPath, FRCOphth (Hon) serves as Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy's. Dr. Marshall serves as Emeritus Professor of Ophthalmology at King's College, University of London. He is an Editor or co-editor of a number of international journals. He co-founded Retica Systems, Inc. in 1999 and served as its Scientific Advisor. He served as Sembal Professor of Experimental Ophthalmology at the Institute of Ophthalmology from 1982 to 1991. He serves as a Member of Business Advisory Board at Accelerated Vision Group LLC. He serves as a Member of Medical Advisory Board of Avedro Inc. and TheraKine Inc. Dr. Marshall served as Member of Scientific Advisory Board at Light Sciences Corporation since May 2004. He is a key advisor and participant in the development of the Light Sciences ophthalmology program. He is a pioneer and an internationally recognized expert on laser and light bio-effects in the field of ophthalmology. He is the co-inventor of the world's first diode laser for ophthalmology and the inventor of excimer laser technology for refractive surgery. His work has resulted in nearly 400 research papers, books, published articles and documents, leading to the production and patent of the revolutionary Excimer laser for the correction of refractive disorders, and the creation of the world's first Diode laser for treating eye problems of diabetes, glaucoma and ageing. Dr. Marshall graduated from London University in 1965 and obtained his PhD Institute of Ophthalmology, University College, London. in 1968.
