Brendan Murtha

Brendan Murtha has extensive work experience in the semiconductor industry. Brendan is currently employed as a Sr Staff Engineer at Achronix Semiconductor Corporation since March 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Intel Corporation as a SOC Engineer from August 2016 to March 2021. In this role, Brendan was responsible for managing the Quartus prototyping software flow and acted as the engineering point of contact for strategic partners and key customers. Brendan successfully secured commitments from strategic customers to adopt Intel-based prototyping boards.

Before joining Intel, Brendan worked at Synopsys as a Corporate Applications Engineer from April 2007 to August 2016. In this position, they assisted customers with bringing up their models on the HAPS prototyping system and resolved partitioning optimization and back-end timing issues, resulting in successful model bring-up and higher clock speeds.

Brendan also briefly worked at Synplicity as a Corporate Application Engineer in 2007 and at Lockheed Martin as a Hardware Engineer from December 1998 to April 2007. At Lockheed Martin, they designed and tested FPGA-based systems and developed self-checking testbenches to verify the functionality of IP/UDP packet processing from a Gigabit Ethernet MAC. Brendan also performed lab checkout, testing, and system integration of hardware and software.

Brendan Murtha completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at The University of Kansas. Following that, they pursued a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Digital Signal Processing at Santa Clara University from 2006 to 2009.
