Ariel Shapell

Legal Fellow at ACLU of Pennsylvania

Ariel Shapell currently serves as a Legal Fellow at the ACLU of Pennsylvania, a position held since 2021. Prior experience includes working as a Research Assistant at the Quattrone Center for the Fair Administration of Justice from 2019 to 2021, where Ariel contributed to research on bail, probation violations, and sentencing. Ariel also interned with the Defender Association of Philadelphia, representing clients in criminal cases, and externed at the Federal Community Defender Office, advocating for capital clients through legal petitions. Earlier roles include legal internships at the ACLU of Pennsylvania and managerial positions in product management and business planning within the tech and entertainment sectors. Ariel holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Finance from Washington University in St. Louis.
