Cherie Dawson-Edwards is the Director at ACLU. Prior to their current position, they were with the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts from January 2016 to December 2018 where they served as a Court Designated Specialist. In this role, they processed public and status offense complaints against youth, arranged placement for Youth taken into custody by Law Enforcement, conducted preliminary inquiry on complaints filed against Youth, formulated and supervised diversion agreements, communicated with services providers to ensure Youth received proper assistance throughout the community, facilitated FAIR Team meetings to provide a team approach and wrap-around services for Youth, built relationships with service providers; Referred Youth and families to providers based on needs, and communicated with Jefferson County Public School regarding Youth educational needs. Cherie Dawson-Edwards has also worked as the Disproportionate Minority Contact Coordinator with Madison County KY from July 2011 to October 2011 and as the Work Readiness Coordinator with YouthBuild USA/ SummerWorks from January 2018 to December 2018.
Cherie Dawson-Edwards has a MS in Corrections and Juvenile Justice from Eastern Kentucky University and a Bachelor of Science in Sport Admin and Marketing from the University of Louisville. Cherie also attended hs.
