Jamil Dakwar

Jamil Dakwar currently serves as the Director of the Human Rights Program at the ACLU since November 2004, while also holding adjunct professor positions at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study, and Hunter College. Jamil has contributed to human rights education through teaching roles at Bard College and John Jay College (CUNY). Additionally, Jamil is a member of the New York Advisory Committee to the US Commission on Civil Rights since June 2020. Prior experience includes research fellow roles at Human Rights Watch and the Center for Economic and Social Rights, as well as serving as Senior Staff Attorney at Adalah - The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel. Jamil received legal education from New York University School of Law and Tel Aviv University.
