Wangui Maranga-Okello serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for CIC Asset Management Ltd since May 2024, and holds a position on the Audit and Risk Committee of the Kenya Community Development Foundation since January 2023. With extensive experience in the investment sector, Wangui is a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the D-REIT Investment Committee for Acorn Investment Management Ltd where significant achievements include structuring and capital raising for innovative REITs and the first Green Bond in East Africa. Previous roles include Director at Standard & Mutual and Senior Investment Manager at Genafrica Asset Managers Ltd, along with a strong educational background featuring an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester, ACCA certification, and a B.Comm in Marketing from the University of Nairobi. Wangui is also an active committee member of the REITs Association of Kenya.

Acorn was established in 2001, initially the company provided Project Management Services across East Africa. In 2006, the company added property development capabilities and begun undertaking its own developments. Acorn has overseen the development of a number of iconic projects including the Coca-Cola Regional HQ and the Deloitte Head Office in Nairobi. In 2015, we formed Acorn Holdings Limited together with leading Africa focused private equity firm – Helios and refocused our strategy purely on developing and managing purpose built rental accommodation for young people in Nairobi We are addressing the chronic shortage of good quality, safe and secure accommodation, for the fast growing population of young people in Nairobi who need housing. These developments are aimed at university students and young professionals. They provide full amenities and services and are managed by on site teams of customer service, maintenance, cleaning and security staff
