Domenico Laforgia is the current Chairman at Acquedotto Pugliese. Domenico has also served as the Direttore ad interim del Dipartimento Cooperazione Internazionale della regione Puglia from November 2015 to May 2021. In this role, they were responsible for the Programma INTERREG ITALIA – GRECIA and from 2017 to November 2020 they were the Autorità di gestione del Programma INTERREG ITALIA – ALBANIA - MONTENEGRO. Prior to their work in regional government, Laforgia served as the Presidente of UNIMED - Mediterranean Universities Union from October 2008 to June 2014. Domenico also represented the Conferenza Unificata Stato-Regioni at ANVUR from November 2018 to October 2020. In addition, Laforgia has held positions as Vice presidente nazionale at Associazione Tecnica dell’Automobile from December 2013 to November 2016 and as Fondatore e Direzione generale at Centro di Ricerca Energia e Ambiente (CREA) from September 2001 to October 2021. Domenico also served as Rettore of Università del Salento from November 1998 to October 2013 and as Progettista at Ferrari from October 1977 to October 1979.
Domenico Laforgia received a Laurea in Ingegneria Meccanica from Università degli Studi di Bari. Domenico also attended Guangzhou University, Princeton University, University at Buffalo, von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, Politecnico di Milano, and Tecnológico de Costa Rica.
