AcruxKC
In 2002, a star was born. Trinity Lutheran Hospital merged with Baptist Medical Center to form Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center—a Health Midwest hospital, each bringing along their respective foundation. A year later, Health Midwest was sold to HCA (a for-profit health care system), and the newly created Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center Foundation separated to become its own free-standing public charity known as Baptist-Trinity Lutheran Legacy Foundation (BTLLF) in honor of the two hospitals and to continue to meet the health needs of area residents with low incomes. Today, the renamed foundation, AcruxKC stands independently and strives to continue its heritage of providing access to health care services and education to the Kansas City community. In 2005, AccessKC (then Kansas City’s Medicine Cabinet) became the signature program of AcruxKC to to provide short-term medical assistance for those in need in the KC metropolitan area.
