David is a professional company director who has served on the boards of various public and private companies as well as not-for-profit and charitable organizations and statutory authorities. He is currently Chairman of Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure Limited, a Director of Brookfield Business Partners LLC, and Chairman of Queensland Bulk Water Supply Authority, and has formerly served as Chairman of the Australian Red Cross Blood Service and the Queensland Museum.
David was Treasurer of Queensland (1998-2001), Minister for Education (1995-96), Minister for Transport, and Minister Assisting the Premier on Economic and Trade Development (1989-95), and served as the Member for Ipswich in the Queensland Parliament (1983-2001). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours from the University of Queensland and a Master of Arts degree from Oxford University which he attended as a Rhodes Scholar. In 2005 he was awarded his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Queensland.
David is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Transport and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). He was awarded the Centenary Medal in 2003 and in 2009 he became a Member of the Order of Australia for his service to the Parliament of Queensland, to the community, and to business.
