Matthew Halperin, CFA

Matthew Halperin, CFA has a diverse range of work experiences in the financial industry. Matthew is currently an Adjunct Instructor at Bentley University, starting in 2023. Prior to this, they co-founded Act2Financial in 2020, where they focused on improving retirement for individuals aged 65 and above through a digital analytics platform.

In 2019, Matthew launched their own company, Belden Consulting, LLC. Matthew also worked as a Risk Manager at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston in the same year, overseeing the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Group and managing a team of six analysts.

From 2014 to 2018, Matthew served as an Independent Global Risk Officer/Senior Vice President at MFS Investment Management. Their responsibilities included measuring and monitoring risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing the Risk, Performance, and Attribution teams.

Matthew spent nine years at TIAA-CREF, from 2005 to 2014, as a Senior Managing Director responsible for product and strategy risk. Matthew worked closely with equity and fixed income teams, participating in various Governance Committees related to investment, asset liability, and risk management.

In 2003, Matthew was a Managing Director at Spyglass Capital, a mortgage hedge fund, where they were involved in portfolio construction and explaining investment strategies to clients. Prior to that, they worked at Putnam Investments from 1996 to 2003 as a Senior Vice President, leading the Derivative Strategy team and collaborating with portfolio managers on utilizing derivatives for investment objectives.

Matthew started their career at Allstate in 1990 as a Portfolio Manager, specializing in fixed income portfolios and derivatives. Matthew developed new investment strategies, managed equity index derivatives portfolios, and built financial models in C++.

Matthew Halperin, CFA holds an MBA in Finance from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Prior to that, they obtained their BA in History of Science from the University of Chicago. Additionally, Matthew is a Chartered Financial Analyst certified by CFA.
