Joe Vallina has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Marketing and Membership at ACTFL. Prior to this, Joe worked as a Principal at AssociationMax™, LLC. Joe also served as the Deputy Executive Director of Membership, Marketing, and Publications at NAFSA: Association of International Educators, where they directed strategy, personnel, and operations. At the American Nurses Association, Joe held the roles of Director of Product Management and Director of Publishing, where they developed and implemented strategic visions for publishing operations. Joe also served as the President of the Board of Directors at Association Media & Publishing. Earlier in their career, Joe worked at The American Academy of Actuaries, serving as Program Manager for the Actuarial Standards Board and Marketing and Publications Production Manager.

Joe Vallina, CAE, MBA, MSM has a diverse education history. In 1991, they attended Universidad de Salamanca for Spanish and Iberian Studies. Later, they pursued further education at West Virginia University Institute of Technology, where they obtained an A.S. degree in Printing Technology and a B.S. degree in Printing Management. Moving forward, Joe Vallina completed coursework on Substantive Editing at the University of California, Berkeley, and received a Leading with Credibility certificate from Cornell University.

In 2008, Joe Vallina enrolled in the University of Maryland Global Campus to pursue a Master of Science in Nonprofit and Association Management, which they completed in 2012. Joe furthered their education at the same institution by earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from 2013 to 2015.

Joe Vallina also holds a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University, obtained in 2020, and completed Quality and Service Excellence coursework at the same institution in 2021.

In addition to their academic achievements, Joe Vallina obtained the Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification from ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership in January 2015.
